It’s been an incredibly exciting year for Doctor Who fans, and it looks like it’s going to be an even more fascinating one for fans of the BBC’s hit science fiction show in 2023. There’s the prospect of the return of David Tennant to the show for three episodes celebrating the 60th anniversary in November 2023 alongside Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, Neil Patrick Harris and Yasmin Finney as Rose.
We’ve said goodbye to Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth in the emotional The Power of the Doctor, said hello again to many old companions and Doctors from the past – and we’ve seen Chris Chibnall pass on the baton of the show to Russell T Davies who is back after more than a decade away.
We have also heard about the new deal between the BBC and Disney which talks of a “shared creative vision” for Doctor Who going forward and a new home for the show internationally on Disney+ from 2023, and much speculation about bigger budgets and spin-off shows.
