The Devil’s Hour starring Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine gets season 2 and season 3

The Devil’s Hour, the psychological thriller starring former Doctor Who Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine, has been renewed for two new seasons by Prime Video, Amazon’s streaming platform, meaning there will be a season two and a season three coming in the next few years.

The show, which tells the story of a woman who wakes up at exactly the same time every night, 3.33 am, to be confronted by premonitions, dreams and mysterious visits from a character called Gideon, played by Capaldi, is a mystery that pieces together what’s happening with her life and that of her son with a police investigation.

The firsts season of the show received critical acclaim and it is understood the second run of the show, which is executive produced by former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat, will begin filming early next year.

Cast members from the first season including Peter Capaldi, Jessica Raine, Nikesh Patel, Phil Dunster, Meera Syal and Benjamin Chivers are all expected to return with Amazon also teasing new characters joining the show in what will surely be an expansive story told across the new episodes.

Creator of the series Tom Moran said: “Telling a story on television is a precarious business. Season 1 of The Devil’s Hour was just the beginning – the opening act of a TV novel. I’m so thrilled that we get to keep turning those pages and slotting the puzzle pieces into place.”

Added Moran: “If you thought the final episode of season 1 had all the answers, then you haven’t been asking the right questions.”

Head of UK Originals at Amazon Studios, Dan Grabiner said: “We’re thrilled with the audience response to The Devil’s Hour, and can’t wait to share the next chapter of this mind-bending story.”

He added: “Fans can look forward to plenty more twists and turns in this remarkable tale from first-time series creator Tom Moran, and welcoming back our immensely talented cast, led by Jessica Raine and Peter Capaldi.”
