Peter Davison and Georgia Tennant to unite for new Doctor Who adventure
Father and daughter Doctor Who alumni Peter Davison and Georgia Tennant are set to untie for a new Doctor Who adventure.
The pair, who play the Fifth Doctor and the Doctor’s daughter Jenny respectively will feature in the second instalment of the Once and Future audio series from Big Finish entitled The Artist at the End of Time.
As well as being related, the pair share another Doctor Who connection in that Georgia Tennant is married to Tenth and Fourteenth Doctor star David Tennant who she met on the set of the sci-fi show itself. The show will also feature another former Doctor, Colin Baker, as The Curator.
Written by James Goss, the official synopsis for the story reads: “Suffering the effects of degeneration, the Doctor heads towards the end of the universe in search of answers. Instead, he finds his daughter – Jenny – and an Artist whose works appear to mark the end of every world they touch.
“The Doctor stabilises into his Fifth form to join forces with Jenny and the Curator to solve the mystery of the Final Gallery and the art it has collected.”
Georgia Tennant said of the role: “I feel like I’m always working with Dad. It’s so nice to see a different side to him – he’s very impressive to watch. Also, I’ve known Colin since I was very small, so it was a little like being a kid back in the 1980s again. They haven’t changed and their rapport is pretty special. It was fun to try and find my space in that.”
The Once and Future series is one of the celebrations taking place in Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary year.
In addition to this there will be three episodes of the TV show in November 2023 which will feature David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor opposite his old companion Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate. Others confirmed for the shows include Yasmin Finney as Rose and Neil Patrick Harris.
These episodes will be followed by the first full episode for Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor around the festive season. He will be joined by his new companion Ruby Sunday (played by Millie Gibson) with the rest of season 14 playing out across 2024.
The 2023 TV episodes will be the first as part of a new dal between the BBC and Disney to make Disney+ the international streaming home of Doctor Who outside the UK.
