Doctor Who’s Millie Gibson amuses fans by calling Matt Smith “so hot”

Incoming Doctor Who actor Millie Gibson who will Ruby Sunday opposite Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor in the 14th season of the science fiction show is currently busy filming the show in Wales, but she has been able to find time between shoots to show some appreciation for a past Doctor Who.

Gibson, who was announced as the Doctor’s companion on the live BBC Children in Need telethon in October, is an integral part of a bold and creative new future for Doctor Who masterminded by returning showrunner Russell T Davies, but has amused fans with a reference to the Eleventh Doctor star Matt Smith on Twitter.

On January 12th, the BBC tweeted some pictures of Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor alongside a famous quote from the Doctor who was in charge of the TARDIS between 2010 and 2013.

“I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes, and the dreamer of improbable dreams”

However, fans were quick to spot and celebrate a reply to the tweet from none other than Millie Gibson, who in just a few words has attracted more than 100,000 views to her tweet as well as hundreds of retweets like sand comments.

“He’s so hot” wrote Gibson.

The fan response to the tweet was a mix of excitement, humour and agreement.

“I’ve never felt so represented!” said one Twitter user, with another simply saying “I screamed!”

Gibson will make her screen debut as Ruby Sunday in a special episode of Doctor Who around the festive season of 2013, with the rest of season 14, starring herself and Ncuti Gatwa kicking off in 20224.

Season 14 will be the first full season to be part of the new deal between the BBC and Disney that will make Disney+ the international home of Doctor Who going forward.

Before season 14 there will be three episodes of Doctor Who to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the show in November 2023 starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor.
