Harry & Meghan, a new TV show from Netflix which is described as “an unprecedented and in-depth documentary series” is due to release its first three parts on Thursday 8th December 2022, with another three episodes of what looks likely to be one of the most talked about shows of the year coming out on 15th December.
In the new series, which is likely to make for uncomfortable viewing for members of the British Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will according to Netflix “share the other side of their high-profile love story.”
The new trailer shows Harry speaking candidly about the “pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution” which appears to be a reference to his wife and his mother, the late Princess Diana. It also references the “dirty game” of the press intrusion into their lives.
The trailer concludes, “no one knows the full truth… we know the full truth…”
A full Netflix synopsis for the series says: “Across six episodes, the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution. With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.”
The documentary series is directed by Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus.
Harry & Megan will release on Netflix globally on Thursday 8th December. A further three episodes of the series will be released a week later.
