House of the Dragon season 2: ‘Sometime in 2024’

House of the Dragon, the highly-anticipated Game of Thrones prequel has been one of the hit shows of 2022, garnering record premier audiences for both premium cable broadcaster HBO in the US and for Sky and NOW who carry the show in the UK. Such was the fan and critical praise for the show that it was renewed for a second season within a week of the first run beginning on TV across the world.

But with the 10 episodes of the first season of the show that stars former Doctor Who actor Matt Smith now done, and a whole lot of new characters and storylines developed in the wonderful world of Westeros, people who love the show are eager to find out when they’re going to get more House of the Dragon?

The answer is, well, there may be a bit of a wait…

“Don’t expect it in ’23, but I think sometime in ’24,” HBO boss Casey Bloys told Vulture.

He added: “We’re just starting to put the plan together, and just like last time, there are so many unknowns. It’s not to be coy or secretive, but you don’t want to say it’s going to be ready on this date, and then you have to move it.”

But what of the Jon Snow story that HBO is developing? Could that be riding onto our screens like a knight in shining armour next year to keep us entertained while we wait for House of the Dragon season 2?

It sounds like that may be even further off, sadly.

“I think probably the next thing would be season 2 [of House of the Dragon]” Bloys said.

“I try not to comment too much on development, so there’s not a whole lot to say, other than when we find the story that George is happy with and we’re happy with, we’ll move forward.

In the meantime, why not try out these shows that are like Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon…
