Doctor Who’s Jo Martin amongst new Death in Paradise stars

Doctor Who’s Jo Martin is one of a number of celebrity stars revealed by the BBC to be appearing in the upcoming Death in Paradise Christmas special, the detective show set on a Caribbean island.

The popular drama, which stars Ralf Little as a British detective working on the fictional island of Saint Marie, is known for introducing guest stars on a regular basis, and it looks like the first helping of winter sun from the show will be no different this year.

Jo Martin, who will be known to science fiction fans for her role as the Fugitive Doctor in the BBC’s Doctor Who as well as parts in Holby City and Fleabag, teased her participation in the Christmas special with a tweet that not only showed her but a number of other special guests.

The message also revealed that Derry Girls‘ Siobhan McSweeney will be making an appearance in the festive show – as too will Hakeem Kae-Kazim.

There is also a part in the show for the veteran entertainer, comedian and actor Les Dennis, who is pictured in the tweet.

Death in Paradise began in October 2011 and has since then become a regular winter fixture in the BBC schedules, and is a popular favourite with BBC One viewers looking to escape the cold and rain of the British winter with some beautiful sunny beach scenes.

The show has had a number of lead actors over the years including Ben Miller, Kris Marshall, Ardal O’Hanlon.

The Christmas special in 2022 is expected be followed by a full season of the show, season 12 which traditionally runs in January and February.

Expect further announcements of guest stars for the full series of the show which in the past has welcomed guests including Gemma Chan, Neil Morrisey, Samantha Bond and Martin Compston to name a few.
