Watch The Last of US episode one absolutely free
The Last of Us has become one of the most talked-about TV shows of 2023, a rare example of a video game making the tricky transition to the television screen and winning over both critics and the viewing public.
In the UK, the HBO post-apocalyptic show created by Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann who architected the original award-winning video game, has achieved great viewing figures for Sky Atlantic. The first episode drew more than a million viewers making it the second most successful drama launch for the channel beating the debut of Game of Thrones.
However, for those who haven’t had a chance to watch the show starring The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal and Game of Thrones’ Bella Ramsey, Sky has made the entire first episode of the series available to watch for free and without a subscription on their YouTube channel.
In an official release, Sky said “Critically acclaimed series The Last of Us, is fast proving to be the video-game adaptation fans have been waiting for. Sky and streaming service NOW are releasing the entire feature length first episode in the UK and Ireland on the Sky TV YouTube channel on Friday 27 January – giving everyone the chance to watch and sample the hype surrounding the series.”
The Last of Us tells the story of Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler, as he escorts a teenage orphan Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across an American continent that has been brought to its knees by a fungal pandemic which has turned much of the population to zombies. The show focusses on the relationship between the pair as they struggle to survive in a hostile environment and begin to learn more about the secrets that Ellie may hold that could help to save humanity.
The show also features some notable performances from the likes of Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett.
The Last of Us is released weekly in the UK on Sky Atlantic and NOW on Monday mornings at 2am, and is available at the same time in the US on HBO.
