The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies get ultimate 4k boxset

If you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings, this is already looking to be a good few months for you, as Prime Video’s huge budget The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to release on Amazon’s streaming service. But as if multiple episodes set thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings is not enough, those who love all things Tolkien are also soon going to be allowed the chance to get their hands on a very special 4k box set of the original movies from Peter Jackson, and a while lot more.

Middle-earth: The Ultimate Collector’s edition (affiliate link) is released on October 7th 2022, and comprises all of the original movies from both trilogies in theatrical and extended form, including a whole host of special presentations across a staggeringly large 31-disc collection.

As well as all six movies re-mastered for Blu-ray as part of this 20th anniversary celebration, the set will also include interviews with cast and crew – and Peter Jackson himself.

Additionally, you can expect to be the proud owner of a physical gold pendant, which comes with the set, an anniversary special hosted by Stephen Colbert, a 64-page booklet filled with sketches and photography and 7 travel poster art cards, one for each film and an exclusive Rivendell card.

The box set is also configurable in different ways for display, meaning you can keep mixing up how it looks pride of place on your shelf.

At £179.99 it’s not the cheapest box set you will ever come across, but for collectors and fans, it is certainly something that might well be sneaking onto Santa’s Christmas list for 2022.

You can find more details and pre-order the box set at Amazon.
