Inside Man is one of several new series that Steven Moffat, the former Doctor Who showrunner and co-creator of Sherlock, has been involved with in the past year as he continues to create talked-about TV with interesting and intriguing storylines.
The mystery show that starred David Tennant and Stanley Tucci about just what it takes to turn someone into a murderer aired on the BBC in October 2022, with a release globally on Netflix on 31st October of the same year.
But the question on everyone’s lips of the show that also starred Dolly Wells and Lydia Baker is, will there be a second season of Inside Man?
The show’s creator, Moffat, told BBC Radio 4’s The Today Programme that he was “looking at the enthusiastically-nodded-about graphs and apparently [Inside Man] performed quite well”.
He added: “You don’t get a [ratings] number the following day anymore, now you get an audience breakdown a month later.”
It is thought that second-season conversations are underway, and although nothing is confirmed… it feels like there’s reasons to be cheerful if you liked the show.
When the show was released in October 2022, Moffat said that it was up to the audience if the show would get another run.
“The story will end in four episodes. It’s done by the end of that,” he said. “As to whether or not you could ever spin off anything or do any kind of sequel? I don’t know at this moment.
“It’s not really up to me, and it’s not up to the broadcasters – it’s up to the audience really, isn’t it? And if anyone wanted it, you have to sit down and think, ‘Is there anything to do?’
“Television is littered with shows that had one season and pretended they could carry on – I would never want to be one of those, where you’re so excited to get a phone call about doing another run that you do it and then realise, actually, the story is finished.”
David Tennant, who stars in Inside Man has a busy 2023 ahead with the second season of Good Omens arriving in the Summer as well as his return to Doctor Who in the 60th-anniversary specials ahead of the season 14 launch with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson taking over the TARDIS.
