New monster spotted as Doctor Who 14 filming continues

The filming of Doctor Who season 14 continues both inside Bad Wolf Studios in Cardiff and on the streets of Wales and that means that intrepid Whovians are continuing to spot exciting developments as they happen.

Now of course there are two types of Doctor Who fan – the type that doesn’t want to know anything about the show until it comes out, and those who like to see a few random spoilers from time to time to keep them going until the new episodes arrive.

If you are the former, best to switch off this article now as it contains some potential spoilers from set.

However, if you are someone who wants to see a sneak peek (however random and out of context) of what’s going on… well, read on…

OK, assuming you’re still interested in seeing a new monster it looks like a giant slug is on the loose at some point during Doctor Who season 14.

Carys King has captured a number of photos from the Doctor Who filming in Swansea Bay Campus in the last few days and added them to her Twitter account.

The photos show signs reading Diamond Plaza and Finetime and most interestingly of all there appears to be a new Doctor Who monster on the loose – a giant slug.

There have been giant slugs in Doctor Who before – the Gatropods who first appeared in the Twin Dilemma come to mind, but this slug looks less humanoid in its appearance than those from the Planet Jaconda led by Mestor the Magnificent.

However, it’s fair to say that from the one photo we can’t really be sure of anything at this rate.

Doctor Who season 14 is filming now and will star Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as his companion Ruby Sunday.

The series is expected to begin around the festive season of 2023, with further episodes in 2024.

Before that Doctor Who fans will be treated to three one-hour-long episodes in November 2023 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the show. The specials will star David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and see the return of Catherine Tate as Donna Noble as well as the introduction of Yasmin Finney as Rose and Neil Patrick Harris as an unnamed enemy.
