First look at Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor

The era of Ncuti Gatwa is ALMOST upon us.

There’s no spoilers in this article, but if you want to know more about what went down in Jodie Whittaker’s final episode of Doctor Who, The Power of the Doctor and some of the twists and turns at the end, you can go here. But be warned, it will spoil the final few moments of the show if you haven’t seen it.

However, it’s not a spoiler to say that tonight we got our first glimpse of the Fourteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa in character in a brief moment on screen in short trailer the BBC released advertising the 2023 specials.

The trailer itself contains The Power of the Doctor spoilers, so we won’t put it in this article, but as you can see above and below Ncuti has arrived in a shirt and an undone tie.

His only line so far is “can someone tell me what the hell is going on here…” and from the looks of the trailer, it’s all a bit confusing as he enters the fray!

The actor, who was cast as the Doctor this summer is best most to Netflix viewers as the star of Sex Education where he plays Eric Effiong.

It is understood Ncuti will appear in the 60th-anniversary specials which are being showrun by returning Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies and he will begin filming his first full series in the role next month. It is thought this may not air until late 2023 or even 2024.

David Tennant and Catherine Tate are confirmed to be returning for the 60th specials and it is expected that other old faces from the series will be making an appearance in the shows too.
