How to watch The Power of the Doctor in the US
The Power of the Doctor is the final chapter of Jodie Whittaker’s journey in the TARDIS and will also mark the last episode of the show with Chris Chibnall at the helm before Russell T Davies takes over once again.
The exciting 90-minute adventure will be broadcast in the UK on BBC One on Sunday, October 23rd at 7.30pm, but fans across the globe have been asking when they will have the chance to see this spectacular story which sees the return of the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Master and Sophie Aldred and Janet Fielding as the Doctor’s companions Ace and Tegan.
So, how can you watch the show if you’re in the US? Well, the good news is, we have a date and time for fans in America, with the US premiere of The Power of the Doctor being also on Sunday 23rd October, just a few hours after the BBC One broadcast in the UK on BBC America Stateside.
The Power of the Doctor will premiere on BBC America at 8pm Eastern Time (ET) on Sunday 23rd October, that’s 7pm Central Time (CT), 6pm Mountain Time (MT) and 5pm Pacific Time (PT). US audiences looking to go back and enjoy the back catalogue of Doctor Who before the big event can also assess a library of episodes on HBO Max.
The Power of the Doctor official BBC official synopsis for the episode reads: “In this feature-length special to mark her last adventure, Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor must fight for her very existence against her deadliest enemies: the Daleks, the Cybermen and her arch-nemesis, the Master.
“Who is attacking a speeding bullet train on the edges of a distant galaxy? Why are seismologists going missing from 21st-century Earth? Who is defacing some of history’s most iconic paintings? Why is a Dalek trying to make contact with the Doctor? And just what hold does the mesmeric Rasputin have over Tsar Nicholas II in 1916 Russia?”
Jodie Whittaker has previously said that this is an episode “for the Whovians” and from the trailer, it looks as if the episode will contain the first stages (if not all) of Jodie Whittaker’s regeneration.
Whittaker is to be replaced as the Time Lord by Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa, who it is understood will be filming his first full series from next month, although this isn’t expected on screen until perhaps as late as 2024.
In 2023, Russel T Davies will oversee 60th-anniversary specials of the show that see the triumphant return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate. It is still unclear how much screen time Ncuti Gatwa will have in these specials or when fans will get their first glimpse of hm as the Doctor.
