Russell T Davies teases delicious Doctor Who secret

There’s plenty to be excited about in the world of Doctor Who right now…

In the first instance, there’s the small matter of the 60th anniversary special episodes coming in November that will see the return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate as well as a host of new and returning stars.

There’s also the new deal between Disney and the BBC that makes Disney+ the global streaming home of the show and with it gives the showrunner and the production a bigger budget to make the show even more brilliant.

And of course, there is a new Doctor about to hit our screens in the form of Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth, who will be accompanied by his new companion Ruby Sunday, played by former Corrie star Millie Gibson.

Not content with all this, and the regular announcements of new cast members for Doctor Who season 14, showrunner Russell T Davies has also been ramping up the anticipation with a few extra teases from time to time.

The latest of these comes in the form of a “secret” that he can’t wait to share with the Whovian world.

“Sometimes you know you’ve got a secret. And you hold it close to your chest and let it burn, because secrets are so delicious,” he told Radio Times.

Added Davies: “I’ve got that right now, because my secret is seeing Ncuti with Millie Gibson on the rushes of Doctor Who, every single day, and oh my God, this is so good!”

He also said that when the secret is finally out there in the public domain that “we’ll all be dancing” because fans are going to be treated to “a completely new Doctor, and yet a Doctor utterly faithful to the 60 years that came before.”

Let’s face it, we’re all pretty excited now right?

We’ll have to wait until the festive season of 2023 to see Ncuti Gatwa in his first full episode as the Doctor, with the rest of Doctor Who season 14 expected to play out across 2024.
