Ryan Gosling “in talks” to join Margot Robbie in Ocean’s Eleven reboot
La La Land star Ryan Gosling is reportedly in talks to join a reboot of the well-loved Oceans Eleven movie franchise alongside his Barbie co-star Margot Robbie.
The 41-year-old actor, who plays Ken in the upcoming Barbie movie opposite Margot Robbie, 32, who plays the title role, is according to the Hollywood Reporter in negotiations to join what looks likely to be a big-hitting new version of the popular films.
The new Ocean’s movie drama is to be directed by Jay Roach, but at present not a great deal is known about what viewers will be able to expect from the return of the franchise. The script is understood to be likely set in Europe in the 1960s and it will be an original story rather than a reimagining of any of the previous films.
The Ocean’s franchise was re-launched in the modern era in 2001 with Ocean’s Eleven directed by Steven Soderbergh, it itself a remake of a 1960 film of the same name starring five of the Rat Pack: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop.

The 2001 movie, had a big-name cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Andy García, Bernie Mac and Julia Roberts, and told the story of a casino heist. It was a huge box office success and went on to spawn two sequels Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen in 2004 and 2007 respectively.
The franchise returned again in 2018 for a new take on the format with a female-centric cast including Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter and Rihanna.
No further details on the production or potential release dates are at this time known.
