Sadie Sink on “emotional” Stranger Things season 5
Stranger Things season 4 across its two parts was one of the TV highlights of 2022, with the battle for Hawkins being set up in the final episode as the dam between the Upside Down and the Indiana town is finally broken after an epic battle with Vecna.
And one character was left in a very bad way at the end of the season, Max, who we see at the end of the series alive, but in a coma in hospital surrounded by her friends and with a lot of injuries.
Sadie Sink, who plays Max in the hit Netflix series, has spoken about her thoughts on the fifth and final season of the show.
“We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional – I’m sure,” Sink told NBC’s TODAY with Hoda and Jenna show.
“Spoiler-free… just with the way my character ended in season four. I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there!”
Added Sink when asked about working on Stranger Things: “These kids, this entire cast and crew, it’s family. People say that all the time, but I genuinely mean it.
“And to think that we have to say goodbye to that security and knowing that we’re not going to be seeing each other for another season?”
However, despite it being an emotional goodbye when it does happen, Sink, who is in demand right now and in 2022 starred in both The Whale and Dear Zoe on the big screen, concluded that she was also keen to see what would come next.
She added: “But I think it’s exciting to kind of move on to the next chapter, I guess.”
Stranger Things, which is created by the Duffer Brothers, is one of the biggest shows on Netflix and has grown in popularity since the first season began in 2016. The science fiction series set in the 1980s has made huge stars of its young cast including Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Natalie Dyer and Finn Wolfhard. Sink joined the series in the second season as Max Mayfield and soon became one of the central characters in the show that also counts Winona Ryder and David Harbour among its cast members.
It’s expected that Stranger Things season 5 may be some way off still, with speculation that fans may have to wait until at least 2024 to see how the series concludes. It is not yet known if the season will run in one part or be split up like season 4 was delivered by Netflix. However, with the extreme competition for subscribers and eyeballs in the streaming wars, it feels like Netflix will probably take the opportunity to string out the conclusion to one of their most popular shows for as long as they can.
