Strictly Come Dancing 2022: Helen Skelton and Fleur East favourites to win

Strictly Come Dancing 2022 begins on Friday 23rd September, confirming the fact that Summer is officially over – but setting TV fans up with a glitzy and glamorous weekend of entertainment to look forward to all the way through the autumn.

The launch show was initially set to be broadcast last week but was moved back after the death of Queen Elizabeth II as a mark of respect.

20 seasons in, Strictly Come Dancing remains one of the most popular shows on British television, and in 2022 we are treated to another mix of singers, actors, presenters and sportspeople as they take to the dance floor in pursuit of the glitter ball trophy.

But who will win the show in 2022? It’s a bit early to tell, I hear you say. None of them have even danced on screen yet.

Helen Skelton

Well, that hasn’t stopped the bookmakers from offering prices on all of the contestants already, and according to the bookies television presenter Helen Skelton and singer Fleur East are the ones to beat this season in what is sure to be an exciting contest filled with drama.

Next up is Two Packets of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star Will Mellor in third place, followed by Bros member and 80s pop icon Matt Goss (that’s quite the signing for the show).

In fifth place in the bookies books (maybe they use iPads these days?) is Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds, followed by DJ Tyler West and Corrie actress Kym Marsh.

Radio Star Richie Anderson is next, ahead of Jayde Adams, Mollie Rainford and James Bye.

The bottom four according to the bookies are Hamza Yassin, Ellie Taylor – and then the two Adams, former footballer Tony Adams and bottom of the list at 40/1 is Kaye Adams from Loose Women.

Of course, without a foot being placed on the dance floor yet, it seems unlikely this early bookies order will stay the same, and indeed as is always the case in Strictly we are more than likely to see some surprises along the way.

Fleur East

For the 2022 show the judges will be made up of perennial favourite Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and the head judge will once again be Shirley Ballas. Anton Du Beke will be permanently taking over from Bruno Toniloni.

Strictly Come Dancing launches at 7pm on BBC One on Friday 23rd September 2022. It continues the following night at 6.45pm on Saturday 24th September at 6.50pm.
